Last week, I was in my local drugstore getting a new moisturizer when I came across the ESSENCE section… The next thing I remember is going out of the drugstore having bought four new makeup products without spending more than 20 pounds. If you want to know which bargains I got just keep reading…

The first product I purchased is such a classic: The All about Matt! Fixing Compact Powder.

Then, I remembered that I was about to run out of bronzer, so I decided to get the Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder in the shade lighter skin 01.

After that, the Silky Touch Blush in the shade 90 Summer dreaming really drew my attention so I obviously had to get that as well.

Lastly, I of course can’t say no to a rainbow highlighter so I bought The Blossom Dreams Rainbow highlighter. (Unfortunately there’s not a link for this one as it was part of a limited edition which is no longer available).

Now, let’s talk about what I think of these four products!

I’m sure you’ve probably have heard of the All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder before, but just in case you haven’t… It’s such an affordable product, great for setting foundation, bb cream or concealer.

It has really fine flakes so it feels amazing especially when setting the under eye area. It’s translucent and powdery soft, doesn’t disrupt my makeup at all and it’s undetectable. I actually use it for baking and although I do wish that it left a sharper line, I find it works really well. Definitely one of my all time favorite drugstore powders. Love it and can’t beat the price.

Let’s talk about the Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder now. First off, it smells like coconut!!! But that’s no what I like the most about it…

This bronzer doesn’t make my face shimmer like most others do, it is so easy to blend and it can be built up. I also find the color to be the perfect natural bronzer for a light to medium skin tone. It’s so affordable and it comes with a lot of product.

On the other hand, I find that it wears off after four hours or so, but don’t forget it’s a five pound product so I can’t really ask for more. I wouldn’t buy this again but it’s a really good bronzer for the price.

The next thing I want to talk about is the Silky Touch Blush. When I first saw this blush, I immediately thought, “Uh, why is it so small?”. Surprisingly, it contains 5 grams of product, which is more than many others such as Wet N Wild’s blushes (4 grams).

It’s not a matte blush, it gives a nice glow to my cheeks without being too shimmery (I hate shimmery blushes). Its texture is smooth, but also a little dusty when I put my brush in it. I don’t really mind that though. It’s quite pigmented and leaves a very natural flush of color on my cheeks which builds easily for more pop. It obviously doesn’t last as long as Milani or Bourjois blushes, but it is still pretty and cheaper!

And last but not least… let’s talk about the rainbow highlighter! I’m pretty sure essence already does a rainbow highlighter in their permanent line, so I was really surprised when I saw this product. I must say that I didn’t purchase the first one because it had a really outspoken color scheme to it. However, the Blossom Dreams Highlighter is much more pastel, which instantly made me buy it expecting it to be a lot more wearable.

You can clearly see a purple, blue, green, yellow and peachy shade in the pan and in a swatch, but when you blend it together the result is quite an icy shade. It is so easy to blend and it adds a natural glow to my cheeks without any excess shimmer. It’s also worth mentioning that you can build the pigmentation up for a more dramatic look or you can do like me and go for a gentler application. Overall, I was quite impressed with this product, such a shame it’s not available anymore.

If you want to know more about these products just leave a comment down below. I would love to know if you’ve tried any of them as well!
